Foundations of Community

Welcome to the Sunday morning volunteer community at First Parish! Each Sunday, volunteers from our community help make sure that everyone feels welcome and enjoys our Sunday service. Our Sunday morning volunteers help us live out our covenant “to answer the call of love… welcoming all people…to nourish and serve each other, our community, and our world”.

Creating a welcoming space for worship and fellowship requires intentionality, commitment, and planning. To welcome both newcomers and old-timers every Sunday, we ask members to help us greet worshipers at each entrance, donate flowers, serve as ushers, and prepare and clean up social hour in the Helverson Parlor. We also need a trained sound system coordinator to contribute to our Sunday worship experience.

Because of the importance of these responsibilities to our life in religious community, we call them Foundations of Community. As a member of First Parish, we request you to volunteer in these capacities at least four times a year or teach children’s Religious Education for a semester. Friends and newcomers are also invited to volunteer.

Please review descriptions on this webpage (click on links above)or stop by the volunteer table on Sunday morning to find out how you can become involved in our Foundations of Community at First Parish.

To sign up, see Sunday Morning Volunteer Coordinator Emily LeBlanc at Social Hour or email Emily at volunteer [at] fpcambridge [dot] org.
