The Meeting House for
Children and Youth
First Parish offers vibrant Religious Exploration programming for babies through teens. Our staff teachers lead classes engaging young people in creative, values-based curriculum, exploring spirituality and their relationship with the world around them, as well as fostering deep group connection, fun, and restoration.
We focus on the core values of Unitarian Universalism and encourage an understanding of all religions. Classes include a selection of stories, sharing, crafts, music, games, conversation, play, and spiritual practices. We offer experiences through visual presentations, movement, and creative participation.
Our current offerings for the 2025–2026 church year include:
Sprouts Nursery and Toddler care
Buttercups 4- to 6-year-old class
Saplings Elementary class
Middle school class
High school class: this year we will be offering our Coming of Age program for the high schoolers
Young child care is offered from 9:30 to 10:20 prior to the Sunday morning service
Our monthly rhythm:
First Sunday of each month: all children (except the littlest ones) begin in the church service and stay through A Time for All Ages before going to their classes
Second Sunday of each month: children and teens all begin together for Children and Teen’s Chapel before going to their classes
Other Sundays: classes run from 10:30 to 11:45
Please reach out to our Director of Ministries for Families and Children, Jen Goodman, if you are new and want more information: Jennifer@FirstParishCambridge.org.

Middle and High School

Our programming for middle schoolers and high schoolers seeks to be a welcoming space for fostering connection among youth, building bridges to the congregation and neighborhood, and empowering personal and spiritual growth and identity formation through social events and games, discussions, service learning, mentorship, and values-based curricula.
This year, our programs for teens and tweens focus on youth empowerment, interfaith engagement and leadership, and integrating values and actions. Youth have opportunities to plan social events and to participate in service projects in the community. Our current offerings for the 2025-2026 church year include:
Middle school-aged youth deepen their value of pluralism by taking time to learn about several other religions and by celebrating their uniquenesses through virtual and in person trips and building belonging and community.
High school-aged youth embark on a landmark Coming of Age program to discover their faith on their terms through mentorship by their elders in the congregation.
