All Hallows’ Eve, All Saints Day, and All Souls Day and the Celtic festival of Samhain

It is widely believed that many of the modern secular customs connected with the three days All Hallows’ Eve, All Saints Day, and All Souls Day were influenced by the Celtic festival of Samhain.  The October 30th worship will include elements of a Samhain ritual, including building an altar to honor our beloved dead. You are invited to bring a photo or other small remembrance to add to the altar during the service. Those of you participating on Zoom are invited to share your photos or put names of beloved dead in the chat. RE will be taking place as usual but children are invited to the service if desired. Katie McQuage-Loukas, RE and Pastoral Care Associate, and long-time member Eileen Sullivan will be leading the service.
